I’m marching towards a brighter future for people living with neuroendocrine cancer!

This March I’m walking to raise funds for NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia (NECA) and all Australians living with neuroendocrine cancer, Australia’s 7th most diagnosed cancer.


NECA is the only Australian not-for-profit medical charity dedicated to neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Their commitment to assisting patients, raising awareness, advocating for new treatments, and supporting Australian research is crucial.

This March I’m joining forces with other Australians to support the 29,350+ people living with NETs in our country.

Together, we can make a real impact on the lives of NET patients and work towards a brighter future.

The Stepping Stones of My NEC journey! Starting out in 2023 ...

Saturday 22nd Feb
At the end of Oct23, my body raised its hand with a shout out for help ... & I listened.
On 10Nov23 a phone-call from my GP to follow-up on our appointment from the day before & a CT scan on this date, the words "the scan has found something " echoed in my head.  
He asked me to give him 15 or so minutes & he made a call. 
I met that surgeon on 14Nov & he confirmed a NET in my GI tract in my umbilicus region. 
On 21Nov I was 'under his knife' in Calvary Adelaide. 
9 days on the 11th floor of the hospital, close to Heaven was my thought & where my body let me know in no uncertain terms, that medical intervention had indeed been done & it was on the path of remediating that decision.
I lost 11kgs in 9days, which was needed, but just not this way. 
I was in a new chapter of my  book, on a library shelf I had been privy to, only as a daughter & wife & friend, not as the patient.
The old life? It was gone.
The space ahead? It was huge, but life was not over. 
My husband David's journey with prostate cancer between Sep2012 to Nov2016, was & still is my inspiration & the remembering I lean in to in navigating this time, is well shadowed from behind the veil I cannot see him through.
In my 15months on this path, it is not a chapter I envisaged for my life.
I have a choice to live & keep going.
I choose to live.
Life is a precious gift.
I have a choice to make a difference.
I choose to bring  peace & light to someone, somewhere in this space.
