I’m marching towards a brighter future for people living with neuroendocrine cancer!
This March I’m walking to raise funds for NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia (NECA) and all Australians living with neuroendocrine cancer, Australia’s 7th most diagnosed cancer.
NECA is the only Australian not-for-profit medical charity dedicated to neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Their commitment to assisting patients, raising awareness, advocating for new treatments, and supporting Australian research is crucial.
This March I’m joining forces with other Australians to support the 31,000+ people living with NETs in our country.
Together, we can make a real impact on the lives of NET patients and work towards a brighter future.

Tuesday 17th Feb For those in the know or those that aren’t - Some carcinoid tumors don't cause any signs or symptoms. When they do occur, signs and symptoms are usually vague and depend on the location of the tumor/tumours. In general, cancer occurs when a cell develops mutations in its DNA. The mutations allow the cell to continue growing and dividing when healthy cells would normally die. The accumulating cells form a tumor. Cancer cells can invade nearby healthy tissue and spread to other parts of the body.Doctors don't know what causes the mutations that can lead to carcinoid tumors. But they know that carcinoid tumors develop in neuroendocrine cells.
This of us unlucky enough (mostly women🤦🏻♀️) to be diagnosed with this will encounter a massive wave of emotions and facing a reality or a severe, fast growing and very aggressive cancer that is currently treated by 2 concurrent extremely aggressive chemo drugs round after round. With limited support and very little research or knowledge it is very tough cancer to traverse.
